Advanced mapping software for property planners
Role
Lead Designer
Client
PlanSA
Tasks
Leadership, workshops, experience mapping, system design, brand design, design system
The problem
South Australia's property planning application suffered from design debt, causing an overwhelming experience for new users and excessive support requirements. The challenge was to make it simpler for casual users to find planning information, while also providing a more powerful interface for pro-users.
The solution
We developed a solution that focused on the following principles:
1. Consider workflows: Design layouts with a smooth sequence of tasks to minimize user confusion.
2. Consider modality and modularity: Design with modules that can be infinitely arranged to suit different user needs, allowing users to describe their intentions and modulate the UI.
3. Lean on best practices: Use best practices in UI/UX design to ensure a familiar and efficient experience for users.
4. Hide and sort: Reduce cognitive load by using collapsible UI elements and sorting lists based on user needs.
The result was an almost tangible prototype that met user needs, offering a simplified experience for casual users and a powerful interface for pro-users.
Creating a platform for cleaning fleets
Role
Lead Designer
Client
myhome
Tasks
Research, interviewing, workshops, contextual inquiry, wireframing, design, design system, prototyping
The problem
A successful cleaning services company relied on paper, filing cabinets, and a whiteboard for their operations. They wanted to franchise their business but needed to convert their system to digital without losing any detail and optimise it with technology where possible.
The solution
We developed a concept design for a comprehensive platform that allows franchise managers to plan, manage, and dispatch a fleet of cleaners and vehicles to customers at scale. By addressing underlying needs and focusing on clear visual hierarchy, the platform efficiently digitizes the company's operations and preserves their unique, detail-oriented approach.
